In the video you're showing, it looks like your rhythm is just barely off. It's also a little hard to do it consistently enough for it to make any noticeable difference. You're basically turning while turning while turning if that makes it any easier to understand why it works - though that doesn't mean it will work. you HAVE to be pressing either W+A or W+D) WHILE moving your mouse ever so slightly to the right or left depending on where you want to go. I've not really tested it in gmod, and I never really got really good at it to begin with however, in order to execute it, you have to bunny hop while moving at a diagonal angle (e.g. I'm not sure to what degree it stems, but Quake is notorious for its insane movement speed due to some mechanics you can abuse. I'm pretty sure it's because the source engine literally has some of the same codes as the quake engine. (except you actually can but the movement is capped and I don't want to push another paragraph explaining what the difference is) TL DR - The Source Engine is varied heavily between games and mods, so no, in vanilla GMod you cannot bunnyhop. Team Fortress (the original mod) also was modified from Quake but also had its own differences and movement bugs (TF has a running theme of doing its own shit compared to HL and CS, evidently). Both used the Gold Src Engine but had differences in the movement tech that was available.
#HALF LIFE SOURCE BHOP MAPS MOD#
This dates back to the original Gold Source Engine, which itself was modified from Quake's engine (which had some wild movement tech, especially for back then), where HL1 and the original Counter-Strike mod come from.

These same modifications are why Rocket Jumping is only in Team Fortress 2 between the modern Source engine games I've stated.

#HALF LIFE SOURCE BHOP MAPS PATCH#
It should also be noted that HL2 had a big patch to change this, so in the Day One build you can Bhop (and also do prop climbs easier). This is why you can bunnyhop in CS: Source but not in HL2, and you can't ABH in CS:S but in HL2 you can. We think of Counter-Strike and Half-Life to be on the same engine, but there are modifications between the two. There are mods to put them back in, however.īunnyhoping itself is dependent on the engine. It was patched out sometime before GMod 13 (as in, one of the original patches when it was an HL2 mod removed ABH), so I've heard. I'm going to give a really in-depth answer because a lot of people have been saying different things and I'd like to answer them.įirst of all, to answer your main question, in standard Gmod (without mods) you, unfortunately, cannot Bunnyhop or Accelerated Back Hop.
